NARIP Film & TV Music Supervisor Pitch Sessionwith Deep Cut Music’s Kristen HigueraThu Feb 9, 2023 || 5:30 pm PSTIntimate Pitch Meetings with Top Music SupervisorsNearly 3,000 Placements PLUS 35 Representation Signings Result From NARIP Pitch SessionsA NARIP Series: Intimate Pitch Meetings with Top Music Buyers including Music Supervisors, A&R Executives, Synch Agents & Music Producers
Is your music getting to decision-makers?
At NARIP’s intimate sessions, you get to meet music buyers including A&R executives, music supervisors, synch agents and music producers and pitch for current placement opportunities, representation, and projects, and get immediate feedback.
BACKGROUND
Since 2011, NARIP Music Supervisor Pitch Sessions have secured close to 3,000 placements in blockbuster films, hit television series, global promotion and advertising campaigns, and major studio trailers for NARIP members. Since inception of NARIP’s Synch Agent Pitch Sessions in 2018, thirty-five (35) NARIP members have signed representation or music publishing deals as a direct result with more in the works now. Other outcomes include collaborations, co-writing, producing and commissioned work.
Topics at this NARIP TV Music Supervisor Pitch Session:
NARIP Music Supervisor Pitch Sessions are limited to an enrollment of just 16 people. About one week prior to NARIP’s Session, all registrants will get a brief of the guest supervisor’s then-CURRENT music needs. Each registrant will have a chance to pitch in response to the music briefs provided and get immediate feedback to music pitched. Each participant must submit 5 songs (MP3s only please) 36 hours prior to NARIP’s Music Supervisor Session. Please note that due to time constraints you will only be able to pitch your TOP 3 songs for consideration and immediate feedback (more, if time permits). This process takes the mystery out of why a piece of music does or doesn’t fit. On-the-spot feedback enables registrants to re-work tracks and re-submit, which creates a much higher probability to get them licensed (choose well!). If you do not have music that matches the current needs of the supervisor, fear not! You can still attend and present the top three songs in your catalog. Make sure the songs are unique and captivating. This is helpful because a music supervisor’s needs change constantly. To optimize impact of music you pitch at NARIP’s Music Supervisor Session, we highly recommend that you target the briefs. Good luck and see you there! BEFORE NARIP’S PITCH SESSION:
DON’T GET LOST IN THE CROWD: SMALL IS THE NEW BIG
NARIP Sessions are deliberately kept small and intimate, which is just one reason they work so well and why participants have enjoyed nearly 3,000 placements to date. Limited enrollment of 16 people per session guarantees that registrants meet and get face-time with our guest.
ALMOST 3,000 PLACEMENTS FROM NARIP MUSIC SUPERVISOR SESSIONS
Our small format works! NARIP Session participants have placed nearly 3,000 tracks as a direct result of NARIP Music Supervisor Sessions. Other benefits include new publishing deals for NARIP members, creative collaborations and co-writes, strategic introductions to other music supervisors and placement experts, new representation for composers and much more.
NARIP’S BIGGEST PLACEMENT TO DATE : VODAFONE
Click here to read about NARIP’s biggest placement to date in a Vodafone campaign (Oct 2014) that paid handsomely and launched a career. Other brand placements include McDonalds and AT&T ads, among others.
Placements secured and professional relationships formed through NARIPs music supervisor sessions have earned praise and many placements! See TESTIMONIALS and PLACEMENTS sections below.

About Kayla Masnek, Secret Road
Kayla Masnek was born in San Diego, California and grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma. Upon graduating with a Music Business degree from Oklahoma City University, Kayla returned to her West (best) Coast roots when she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music licensing. A musician (piano, flute) from a young age, she knew early in life that she wanted to work in the music industry. After reading 100 Careers in the Music Industry at age 14, she set her sights on music supervision. Her path has changed a bit since then, as she’s found a passion in working with and helping independent artists through music licensing, more specifically over the last decade at Secret Road Music Services. She’s responsible for notable music placements in TV shows and promos across all major networks and streaming services, and in trailers for Amazon’s Mayor Pete, Paramount+’s Younger, Netflix’s Lucifer, and FX’s Hysterical.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT A NARIP SYNCH AGENT PITCH SESSION:
NARIP Music Supervisor Sessions are limited to an enrollment of just 16 people. About one week prior to NARIP’s Session, all registrants will get a brief of the guest supervisor’s then-CURRENT music needs. Each registrant will have a chance to pitch in response to the music briefs provided and get immediate feedback to music pitched. Each participant may submit up to five (5) songs (MP3s only please) 36 hours prior to NARIP’s Music Supervisor Session. Over 2,000 Placements PLUS 32 Signings Result From NARIP Pitch SessionsA NARIP Series: Intimate Pitch Meetings with Top Music Buyers including Music Supervisors, A&R Executives, Synch Agents & Music Producers
Is your music getting to decision-makers?
At NARIP’s intimate sessions, you get to meet music buyers including A&R executives, music supervisors, synch agents and music producers and pitch for current placement opportunities, representation, and projects, and get immediate feedback.
BACKGROUND
Since 2011, NARIP Music Supervisor Pitch Sessions have secured over 2,000 placements in blockbuster films, hit television series, global promotion and advertising campaigns, and major studio trailers for NARIP members. Since inception of NARIP’s Synch Agent Pitch Sessions in 2018, thirty-two (32) NARIP members have signed representation or music publishing deals as a direct result with more in the works now. Other outcomes include collaborations, co-writing, producing and commissioned work.
Topics at this NARIP Trailer Music Supervisor Pitch Session:
NARIP Music Supervisor Sessions are limited to an enrollment of just 16 people. About one week prior to NARIP’s Session, all registrants will get a brief of the guest supervisor’s then-CURRENT music needs. Each registrant will have a chance to pitch in response to the music briefs provided and get immediate feedback to music pitched.
NARIP Sessions are deliberately kept small and intimate, which is just one reason they work so well and why participants have enjoyed over 2,000 placements to date. Limited enrollment of 16 people per session guarantees that registrants meet and get face-time with our guest.
OVER 2,000 PLACEMENTS FROM NARIP MUSIC SUPERVISOR SESSIONS

Co-writing Songs: Legal & Creative Issues How To Avoid Songwriter Disputes With Dean Serwin, Esq.Wed Sep 8 at 10:30am PSTPhoto: Dean Serwin, Esq. What happens when two or more people co-write a song? Failure to communicate clearly or agree on splits can result in disputes that are time-consuming, expensive and unnecessary. Worse, an encumbered copyright cannot be exploited. Organization and rights designation are vital to exploit and monetize copyrights. Some of the most common disputes include three versions of the same question about ownership: who, what and how much:

Dean Sheldon Serwin began his legal career upon graduation from UCLA Law School in 1990, and expanded into general entertainment industry consulting when he opened his own law practice in 1994, formally rebranding as Serwin Media Group, or “SMG” in 2018. As a transactional attorney, Dean provides both legal and general consulting services in connection with all aspects of the entertainment and related industries, primarily, but not exclusively, in music. Dean also handles trademarks in all industries. Prior to establishing his own private practice, Dean held various positions including stints at the Director’s Guild of America, BMI and Capitol Records; as head of legal and business affairs for a film and TV production and distribution company; and finally with another sole practitioner representing several platinum artists. Dean has addressed various industry groups and moderated or participated in panel discussions at several industry conferences. SMG also operates a successful small record label. As Dean likes to say, SMG represents creative people and those who exploit the results and proceeds of their services, where “exploit” in that sentence is a positive thing. Outside of the law, Dean sits on various boards and committees and is deeply involved in local political, financial, artistic and cultural matters in South Pasadena where he lives with Lynn, his wife of 20 years, 18 year old twins Liam & Rachel, and dog, Dusty. Dean’s South Pasadena, CA based solo practice began in 1994 and serves clients in all areas of the music, film, video, TV, internet, distribution and social media industries, including record labels; music publishers; recordings artists; songwriters; composers and music production libraries; music, television and film producers; social media personalities; managers; television, film, internet, commercial and video game production and distribution companies, business executives and consultants; motivational speakers; authors; clothing and other merchandise companies; as well as others involved within the entertainment and related industries.
