NARIP Film & TV Music Supervisor Pitch Sessionwith Freeform’s (Disney) Matt Mugfordin Los Angeles on Thu Jan 9, 2020This event is SOLD OUTCall 818-769-7007 to be wait-listedIntimate Pitch Meetings with Top Music SupervisorsAlmost 2,000 Placements and 19 Signings Result From NARIP Pitch SessionsA NARIP Series: Intimate Pitch Meetings with Top Music Buyers including Music Supervisors, A&R Executives, Synch Agents & Music Producers
Is your music getting to decision-makers – people who can say YES and write a check?
At NARIP’s intimate sessions, you get to meet music buyers including A&R executives, music supervisors, synch agents and music producers and pitch for current placement opportunities, representation, and projects, and get immediate feedback.
BACKGROUND
Since 2011, NARIP Music Supervisor Pitch Sessions have secured almost 2,000 placements in blockbuster films, hit television series, global promotion and advertising campaigns, and major studio trailers for NARIP members. Since inception of NARIP’s Synch Agent Pitch Sessions in 2018, 17 NARIP members have signed representation or music publishing deals as a direct result. Other outcomes include collaborations, co-writing, producing and commissioned work.
At NARIP’s Music Supervisor Pitch Session:
NARIP Music Supervisor Sessions are limited to an enrollment of just 16 people. About one week prior to NARIP’s Session, all registrants will get a brief of the guest supervisor’s then-CURRENT music needs. Each registrant will have a chance to pitch in response to the music briefs provided and get immediate feedback to music pitched. Each participant must submit 7 songs (MP3s only please) 36 hours prior to NARIP’s Music Supervisor Session. Please note that due to time constraints you will only be able to pitch your TOP 3 songs for consideration and immediate feedback (more, if time permits). This process takes the mystery out of why a piece of music does or doesn’t fit. On-the-spot feedback enables registrants to re-work tracks and re-submit, which creates a much higher probability to get them licensed (choose well!). If you do not have music that matches the current needs of the supervisor, fear not! You can still attend and present the top three songs in your catalog. Make sure the songs are unique and captivating. This is helpful because a music supervisor’s needs change constantly. To optimize impact of music you pitch at NARIP’s Music Supervisor Session, we highly recommend that you target the briefs. Good luck and see you there! BEFORE NARIP’S PITCH SESSION:
DON’T GET LOST IN THE CROWD: SMALL IS THE NEW BIG
NARIP Sessions are deliberately kept small and intimate, which is just one reason they work so well and why participants have enjoyed almost 2,000 placements to date. Limited enrollment of 16 people per session guarantees that registrants meet and get face-time with our guest.
Almost 2,000 PLACEMENTS FROM NARIP MUSIC SUPERVISOR SESSIONS
Our small format works! NARIP Session participants have placed almost 2,000 tracks as a direct result of NARIP Music Supervisor Sessions. Other benefits include new publishing deals for NARIP members, creative collaborations and co-writes, strategic introductions to other music supervisors and placement experts, new representation for composers and much more.

2019-10-30 | In LA: NARIP Trailer Music Supervisor Pitch Session (Motherless Brooklyn, IT Ends, Toy Story 4, Trolls World Tour, Call of Duty): Alison Sieh
×
NARIP Trailer Music Supervisor Pitch Sessionwith Aspect’s Alison Siehin Los Angeles on Wed Oct 30, 2019Intimate Pitch Meetings with Top Music Supervisors1000+ Placements and 19 Signings Result From NARIP Pitch SessionsA NARIP Series: Intimate Pitch Meetings with Top Music Buyers including Music Supervisors, A&R Executives, Synch Agents & Music Producers
Is your music getting to decision-makers – people who can say YES and write a check?
At NARIP’s intimate sessions, you get to meet music buyers including A&R executives, music supervisors, synch agents and music producers and pitch for current placement opportunities, representation, and projects, and get immediate feedback.
BACKGROUND
Since 2011, NARIP Music Supervisor Pitch Sessions have secured over 1,000 placements in blockbuster films, hit television series, global promotion and advertising campaigns, and major studio trailers for NARIP members.
NARIP Sessions are deliberately kept small and intimate, which is just one reason they work so well and why participants have enjoyed over 1,000 placements to date. Limited enrollment of 16 people per session guarantees that registrants meet and get face-time with our guest.
OVER 1,000 PLACEMENTS FROM NARIP MUSIC SUPERVISOR SESSIONS
Our small format works! NARIP Session participants have placed well over 1,000 tracks as a direct result of NARIP Music Supervisor Sessions. Other benefits include new publishing deals for NARIP members, creative collaborations and co-writes, strategic introductions to other music supervisors and placement experts, new representation for composers and much more.

In 2005, Joe landed on the music supervisor map with his breakout work on the cult hit Brick directed by Rian Johnson and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt. He went on to supervise the music for Blue Valentine, with a much-recognized soundtrack. Juliett Rowe, Marketing & Project Management, Madison Records; Founder, Atlanta Record Label Fest, NARIP Board Member and Panel Moderator
Juliett Rowe has spent her career working with indie and DIY musicians, whether writing about artist, helping them strategize or taking late night calls to offer words of encouragement. In 2013, she became head of marketing and promotions for Atlanta indie record label Blood Drunk Records. With ten bands on its roster in various stages of recording and touring, Juliett developed album release plans, secured tour press, and elevated the label to become one of the strongest indie record labels in Atlanta. She realized that many people in the DIY music scene often went unnoticed and unrecognized for their hard work so she created the Atlanta Record Label Fest in 2015. The event showcases people behind the scenes and serves indie record labels by creating an opportunity for networking and building community. It serves fans with cutting-edge musical artists, bridging gaps between genres and sub-cultures. Its first year, the Atlanta Record Label Fest drew hundreds of people. The second year (2016) saw the event expanded to two days and included indie record labels from across the state of Georgia. In 2017 Juliett expanded her artist management and consulting business for independent and DIY artists with Panther Creek Artist Management. She is now handles marketing and project management for Madison Records (Orchard/Sony) on digital marketing and project management initiatives. Juliett has combined her love of music and technology as a Co-Founder and Head of Client Relationships and Marketing with Bandskor, which is building a dashboard to help talent buyers manage and analyze band submissions. Juliett is active not only in the Atlanta music scene, with NARIP and the Atlanta Chapter of the Recording Academy. She understands the need for education, networking, and supporting fellow friends and artists. You can often find her at a show, or hanging out with bands waxing poetic on the value of having a Web site and an email list. JuliettRowe.com

ABOUT GABE McDONOUGH
Executive Producer / Music Supervisor Gabe McDonough is one of the most experienced music and branding professionals in the world, orchestrating music strategies for brands like Apple, Ford, Samsung, Coke, LG, Coach and others. After creating the music departments at Chicago powerhouse agencies Leo Burnett and DDB and a brief stint at Media Arts Lab in Los Angeles, McDonough joined MAS in 2015. McDonough has built a reputation for finding and breaking emerging artists through memorable campaigns, including Santigold’s breakthrough “Lights Out” placement in Bud Light Lime commercials, and, more recently, Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song” used in Ford spots. Always looking for non-traditional ways to incorporate music into brand campaigns, McDonough even enlisted Wilco’s Glenn Kotche to “play” faucets for a Delta Faucet commercial. Named one of Billboard’s “40 Under 40,” McDonough won the 2012 Midem Music Award for best use of a song in a commercial for a Sprint spot featuring a remake of Wilco’s “I’m Always in Love.” Prior to that, AdWeek also recognized one of his spots as one of the “5 Best Ad Songs of All Time.” Also a musician, McDonough previously served as Governor of the Chicago Chapter of the Recording Academy. He has created and performed music spanning several genres throughout his music career, including electronic/techno (Thick Bricks), blues (Chicago Stone Lightning Band), and indie/experimental (BOAS). At his current role at MAS, McDonough oversees the West Coast business in original music composition, music supervision and music strategy.

2019-07-30 | SOLD OUT: NARIP Trailer Music Supervisor Pitch Session (Toy Story 4, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Mary Poppins Returns): Heather Kreamer
×
NARIP Trailer Music Supervisor Pitch Sessionwith Create Advertising’s Heather Kreamerin Los Angeles on Tue Jul 30, 2019THIS SESSION IS SOLD OUT, call 818-769-7007 to be wait-listed.Intimate Pitch Meetings with Top Music Supervisors1000+ Placements and 17 Signings Result From NARIP Pitch SessionsA NARIP Series: Intimate Pitch Meetings with Top Music Buyers including Music Supervisors, A&R Executives, Synch Agents & Music Producers
Since inception of NARIP’s Synch Agent Pitch Sessions in 2018, 17 NARIP members have signed representation or music publishing deals as a direct result. Other outcomes include collaborations, co-writing, producing and commissioned work.
Topics at NARIP’s Music Supervisor Pitch Sessions:

About Simon Katz Simon Katz is Vice President of A&R and Staff Producer at Republic Records. Since joining the label in 2015, he has signed and developed the artists Dagny, Two Feet, Mondo Cozmo, and more. He also conceived and oversaw the construction of the 6,000-square-foot Republic Records Studios in Los Angeles, which has been used by The Weeknd, Metro Boomin, Amine and others since its 2017 opening. A musician, songwriter and producer, Katz was also a founding member of two bands signed to Republic Records: Iglu & Hartly, who released the 2009 hit “In This City,” and Youngblood Hawke, who had a heavily synched hit with 2013’s “We Come Running.” “As a musician and creative himself, Simon understands artists on a level foreign to most senior music executives,” says EVP Rob Stevenson said. “Not only can he spot talent, but he can also unlock that talent in the studio. His ability to speak the language of a musician separates him from the pack and makes him an indispensable member of our A&R team.” Republic EVP Wendy Goldstein added, “Simon’s tenacity and creativity have cemented him as an A&R innovator for the industry. He’s the rare talent who can sign and develop artists and while also helping them make their records in the studio.” Katz said, “Coming from a career as an artist, writer, and producer to working at Republic has really completed the circle for me in terms of understanding the full picture of how to develop and break artists. Monte and Avery Lipman are inspiring, forward-thinking leaders, who have built the perfect launchpad for musicians to succeed. Rob has been an invaluable mentor to me and has taught me a great deal about real artist development. Wendy is one of the foremost A&R in the business, and I am very fortunate to work with her. I am more than excited to continue working alongside them breaking new acts for a long time to come.” About Republic RecordsTESTIMONIALS Click here to see what people say about NARIP’s Pitch Sessions. Andy Gould, Artist Manager, Film Producer
Manager/film producer Andy Gould began his career at age 15 as the messenger boy for Chappell Music. During a routine delivery to George Martin’s prestigious studio AIR London, Gould inquired about work. With that, Gould became one of AIR studios legendary “tea boys,” serving tea for some of the most prolific producers and artists of the time. He was quickly promoted and eventually segued into the world of music publishing. He moved on to Radio Luxemburg, and then Screen Gems where he worked with Carole King, David Gates (Bread) and many other classic songwriters. Gould was sought out by CBS Publishing, and eventually joined the company in New York. During his tenure at CBS, Gould worked with Billy Joel, ELO, Kansas, and had hit records with Pat Benatar, Rainbow, and The Pointer Sisters. In 1983 he left CBS to join Worldwide Entertainment, co-managing Kool & the Gang, Regina Belle, and The Manhattans. In 1989 Gould, along with partners Walter O’Brien and Bob Chiappardi, formed Concrete Management & Marketing, the top rock management company at the time. At Concrete they built a solid reputation as the management force behind the some of the century’s most iconic hard rock, and defining the heavy metal landscape with bands like White Zombie, Pantera, Metal Church and Anthrax. In 1993, Andy Gould Management was formed in Los Angeles where he continued his successful relationship with Rob Zombie – a relationship that yielded several multi-platinum albums and 7 feature films. It was during this time that he partnered with Rob McDermott on the budding career of modern rock royalty, Linkin Park. Gould also achieved platinum success with Powerman 5000, Monster Magnet, Type O Negative and Static X. In 2001, Gould partnered with The Firm where he, and Simon Renshaw, ran the music division in the company’s prime. Gould continued to work with his own rosters, as well as working with The Firm’s impressive list of musical talents including Korn, Jennifer Lopez and Enrique Iglesias. In 2006, Spectacle partnered with Irving Azoff’s Front Line Management Group, where their co-management of Guns N’ Roses ushered in the band’s comeback. In 2010, Andy Gould reformed his own company, Spectacle Entertainment Group. Gould also runs a label partnership with Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) called, T-Boy Records, which will serves as an umbrella label releasing new music and albums from established hard-rock bands with major followings. To date, the label has released some of the more successful albums, in recent years, for Megadeth and Eagles of Death Metal. Gould has also firmly planted his feet in the film world as a producer. Along with a 25-year management career with Rob Zombie, he produced all of Zombie’s films including the controversial and critically acclaimed Lionsgate films House Of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects. Gould also produced Zombie’s re-imagining of the horror classic Halloween (2007) for The Weinstein Company, which broke Labor Day box office records. Gould’s seventh feature film with Zombie, horror juggernaut 31, premiered at Sundance 2016. With years of experience and success, Gould has proved his elasticity in response to an ever-evolving technology and media landscape, with his sense of humor and ingenuity firmly in tact.

Tanner Hendon
Tanner Hendon is an Atlanta native musician, producer, and owner and founder of Atlanta based record label – Madison Records. From an early age, Tanner was drawn to music. After teaching himself to play drums, bass, guitar, and keys, he began to play with artists in the Atlanta music scene, as well as record original music in his home studio. He later formed his own band in which he played drums, and by the time he was 17 he had toured the country several times over, opening for acts such as Velvet Revolver, Tantric, Rehab, and more.
In 2011, he acquired a studio in Chamblee, GA formerly known as Exocet Studios. Around that same time, the world famous Southern Tracks Studios, located in Atlanta was closing down. At NARIP’s intimate sessions, you get to meet music buyers including music supervisors, synch agents, music producers, music editors and “Preditors” (Producer / Writer / Editors), and pitch for current placement opportunities, representation and projects, and get immediate feedback. BACKGROUND Since 2011, NARIP Music Supervisor Pitch Sessions have secured over 1,000 placements in blockbuster films, hit television series, global promotion and advertising campaigns, and major studio trailers for NARIP members. Since inception of NARIP’s Synch Agent Pitch Sessions in 2018, 15 NARIP members have signed representation or music publishing deals as a direct result. WHAT TO EXPECT AT A NARIP PITCH SESSION: PREPARATION IS KEY NARIP Pitch Sessions are limited to an enrollment of just 16 people. About one week prior to NARIP’s Session, all registrants will get a brief of the guest’s then-CURRENT music needs. Each registrant will have a chance to pitch in response to the music briefs provided and get immediate feedback to music pitched. Each participant must submit 6 songs (MP3s only please) 36 hours prior to NARIP’s Pitch Session. Please note that due to time constraints you will only be able to pitch your TOP 3 songs for consideration and immediate feedback (more songs, if time permits). This process takes the mystery out of why a piece of music does or doesn’t fit. On-the-spot feedback enables registrants to re-work tracks and re-submit, which creates a much higher probability to get them picked up or licensed (choose well!). If you do not have music that matches the current needs of the guest, fear not! You can still attend and present the top three songs in your catalog. Make sure the songs are unique and captivating. This is helpful because a music buyer’s needs change constantly and you want your music to make an impression. To optimize impact of music you pitch at NARIP’s Session, we highly recommend that you target the briefs which you will get one week prior to the Session. In addition to pitching for current opportunities, NARIP’s guest producer will consider music pitched for collaboration, signing to his label Hundred Up (in the case of Harvey Mason, Jr.), producing and co-producing. Good luck and see you there!

2019-04-23 | SOLD OUT: NARIP Producer Pitch Session with 6-time Grammy Winner (Aretha, Timberlake, Beyonce, Jackson, Spears): Harvey Mason, Jr.

NARIP Producer Pitch Sessionwith 6x Grammy Winner Harvey Mason, Jr.Tue Apr 23 in Los AngelesSee Harvey Mason, Jr.’s awards, clients, projects & successes HERE.NARIP Pitch Sessions Generate Deals: 1000+ Music Placements 15 Synch Rep & Publishing Deals Result From NARIP Pitch Sessions, read more here. A NARIP Series: Intimate Pitch Meetings with Top Music Buyers including Music Supervisors, Synch Agents & Music Producers Is your music getting to decision-makers – people who can say YES and write a check? At NARIP’s intimate sessions, you get to meet music buyers including music supervisors, synch agents and music producers and pitch for current placement opportunities, representation, and projects, and get immediate feedback. Other outcomes include collaborations, co-writing, producing and commissioned work. Topics at NARIP’s Producer Pitch Sessions:
Small, focused NARIP Sessions enable one-on-one time and immediate direct feedback to music presented by participants. At NARIP Pitch Sessions, limited to 16 people, you get to know the guest music supervisor, synch agent or producer, and they to get to know you. Most important, attendees meet these key players, paving the way for placement, representation, collaboration and ongoing opportunities, and giving them an edge in a competitive market.
DURING NARIP’S PITCH SESSION:
AFTER NARIP’S PITCH SESSION:

ABOUT HARVEY MASON, JR. Harvey Mason Jr. has not only penned and produced songs for industry legends like Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross and Elton John, but also for today’s superstars including Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Chris Brown. Simultaneously, Harvey has been instrumental in producing memorable music for many of the biggest musical films from the past decade. Everyone from Beyoncé and Jennifer Hudson in Dreamgirls, Whitney Houston in Sparkle, to the eclectic casts in Pitch Perfect and SING, Dr. Dre and Ice Cube in Straight Outta Compton and Mary J. Blige and Ne-Yo in The Wiz Live! have called on Harvey to deliver music of the highest standards for blockbuster musical productions. Harvey was born in Boston, Massachusetts where his parents attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music. Harvey’s father, Harvey Mason, Sr., is a noted jazz drummer and founding member of the group Fourplay. Mason Jr. grew up in Los Angeles where he tagged along to his father’s recording sessions with the likes of Quincy Jones, Carole King, The Brothers Johnson and Herbie Hancock. Harvey wrote his first song, “Love Makes It Better” for Grover Washington, Jr. at the age of eight. Besides being a gifted musician, Harvey was also a skilled athlete and attended the University of Arizona on a basketball scholarship, playing in the 1988 Final Four with teammates Sean Elliott and Steve Kerr. Harvey’s first success came when he wrote the song “Truthfully” for Brandy’s 1998 release Never Say Never. He then joined forces with Rodney Jerkins’ Darkchild Entertainment and continued to write and produce hits for the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Destiny’s Child, Toni Braxton, Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson. In 2000, Mason Jr. formed the production company, The Underdogs, whose first hit was Tyrese’s “I Like Them Girls.” He continued to top the R&B charts with hits for B2K, Marques Houston, Ruben Studdard, Joe, Ciara and Omarion, making history in 2009 with the number one hit, “No Air” featuring Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown, and again in 2012 with Chris Brown’s “Turn Up the Music.” In 2006, Harvey produced the soundtrack for the movie musical Dreamgirls where his work on Jennifer Hudson’s rendition of “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going” helped earn her an Academy Award for her performance. His work on Dreamgirls was the first to produce three Oscar-nominated songs from the same film in the same year. In 2008, Harvey Mason Media produced the major motion picture More Than a Game documenting the incredible journey of LeBron James’ high school basketball team. The movie garnered a second-place People’s Choice Award at the prestigious Toronto Film Festival. Harvey also composed the score to the film and served as Executive Producer on the soundtrack Music Inspired by More Than a Game, released on his label Mason Music through Interscope Records. In 2012, Harvey was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for the song “The Living Proof” from The Help which featured Mary J. Blige. Then sadly, he was the last producer to work with Whitney Houston when he produced the songs “His Eye Is on the Sparrow” and “Celebrate” for the movie Sparkle. Later in 2012, Harvey produced the a cappella vocal performances for the hit film Pitch Perfect featuring Rebel Wilson and Anna Kendrick. In 2014, he produced the music for Get On Up, the film about the life and music of the legendary James Brown. With the addition of Hailee Steinfeld, Harvey again joined the cast of Pitch Perfect 2 to produce new a cappella hits for the movie’s 2015 sequel. In the summer of 2015, Harvey arranged and produced all the legendary N.W.A. music for the theatrical release of Straight Outta Compton. Most recently, he wrote and produced music for the top-rated NBC broadcast of The Wiz Live! and produced over 50 songs for the animated musical SING from Universal/Illumination Entertainment. Currently, Harvey is in production for Pitch Perfect 3 and the musical reworking of the 80’s classic, Valley Girl for MGM. Harvey proudly serves as a board member and advocacy leader for The Recording Academy and its Producers and Engineers Wing. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees for his Alma mater, the University of Arizona. Harvey donates his time and resources to several charitable organizations including GRAMMY in the Schools, MusicCares Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, the American Cancer Society, and Los Angeles Children’s Hospital. Harvey received the Spirit of Excellence Award in 2012 by the T.J. Martell Foundation for his philanthropic efforts. TESTIMONIALS Click here to see what people say about NARIP’s Pitch Sessions. 2019-04-17 | In Atlanta – Registering Music For Protection & Profit
×
For those who create, publish and invest in intellectual property such as songs, registration is the most important thing you can do to protect these assets. Registering ensures that public performance revenues flow unimpeded to you, and secures full benefits for song and sound recording copyrights.
Registering with the US Copyright Office for example gives the registrant important legal recourse should a dispute or infringement occur.
Also important is affiliating and registering with a performing rights society (to enable collection of performance royalties) and with the Harry Fox Agency (to enable collection of mechanical royalties).
NARIP is pleased to present expert Brei Jones (other experts TBA) who will demonstrate and walk us through these processes including how to register, affiliate and collect. She will also detail the financial advantages of various affiliations as well as alternatives to using foreign sub publishers
